Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali or arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked by our tour guide to start your 3 days Bwindi gorilla safari from Kigali. You could take an optional Kigali city tour and visit places like Kimironko Market, Caplaki Crafts Village or Kigali Genocide Memorial Monument before driving to Bwindi or alternatively just begin with the drive immediately after pickup.
The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest takes approximately 4 hours including border clearance time. When you reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in to your accommodation facility and have dinner.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Community Walk
Wake up to an early morning breakfast meal and drive to the park headquarters for a short briefing session before making your way into the forest to search for mountain gorillas in the wild. The gorilla trekking experience can take up to eight hours on a bad day hence, you have to be prepared if you want the challenge.
If you can’t trek for long, you should request for a shorter trek and easier trek. When you meet gorillas, you have a full hour around them before you transfer back to the starting point to pick your gorilla trekking certificates and return to your lodge. In the evening, you can take an optional community walk around the Bwindi communities.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali & Departure
You will spend this morning relaxing at your accommodation facility with good views of the forest. You could also opt to carry out a sunrise boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi. After lunch, you will transfer back to Kigali where you will be dropped at an accommodation facility of your choice or the airport to catch up with your flight back home.
