This 10-day Uganda safari from Kigali gives you a full experience of Uganda’s wildlife and primates. Starting in Kigali makes it easier and faster to reach the main parks, beginning with primate encounters and later exploring the Savannah.

Detailed 10-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Mgahinga
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet your driver-guide and begin your safari. After a short briefing, you will cross into Uganda through Cyanika border. You will reach your lodge in Mgahinga in time for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking & Drive to Bwindi
After breakfast, you will go to the park offices for a briefing and then begin golden monkey trekking in the bamboo areas. With the help of rangers, you will follow the trails until you find the monkeys.
You will spend one hour watching them before returning to your lodge for lunch. Later, you will check out and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, you will join a briefing before heading into the forest for gorilla trekking. The trek can take 5 to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are found. Once you locate them, you will spend one hour with the gorillas before returning for lunch. In the afternoon, you can carry out a few optional activities. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will drive for about 4 to 5 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey passes through the Kigezi highlands and later opens into the savannah of Kasese with views of the Rwenzori Mountains. On arrival, you will have lunch and spend the evening at leisure before dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Game Drive & Boat Trip
In the morning, you will go on a game drive across the Kasenyi plains, where you may see lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, Uganda kobs, and other antelopes. After lunch, you will take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which is home to hippos, crocodiles, and many birds. Elephants and buffaloes are often seen along the shores. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Crater Lakes Tour & Transfer to Kibale
After breakfast, you will explore the crater lakes near Queen Elizabeth National Park. Learn about their history and enjoy a walk in the area. You may also swim in one of the lakes if time allows. After lunch, you will continue to Kibale Forest National Park near Fort Portal. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Tour
After breakfast, you will go for a briefing before starting chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest. The trek takes you through thick forest, and once you find the chimpanzees, you will spend one hour observing them. After lunch at your lodge, you will visit Bigodi Wetland in the afternoon, where you may see monkeys, birds, and other wildlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you will check out and travel to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take most of the day, with a lunch stop on the way. Arrive in the evening, check in to your lodge, have dinner, and rest.
Day 9: Game Drive & Boat Trip
After breakfast, you will go on a game drive in the Savannah plains, where you may see elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, and antelopes. Later, you will visit the top of Murchison Falls to see the powerful Nile forcing its way through a narrow gorge.
After lunch, you will enjoy a boat trip along the Nile, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and birds, with views of the falls from below. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa & Departure
After breakfast, you will leave Murchison Falls and stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Here you will go on a guided walk to see rhinos and learn about conservation efforts.
You may also see other animals such as antelopes and zebras. After lunch nearby, you will continue to Kampala or Entebbe, marking the end of your 10-day Uganda safari from Kigali.
