Ruhija sector is part of the incredible Bwindi impenetrable National park that is situated in South western Uganda hosting over 459 gorillas entirely depending on the forest for survival. These species are friendly once habituation is done on them but you should avoid anything that can gear up their anger or create discomfort such as loud noise and taking what belongs to them.Bwindi is managed by Uganda wildlife Authority a body that is responsible for all national parks in Uganda that has ensured that cutting of trees is put to a stop and more so evicting the natives to create more space for the primates and other wild species within the rainforest.

 

In the eastern circuit of Bwindi you will encounter the Ruhija sector where gorilla trekking is conducted with some days free from the rains and others save from too much sunshine but you should note that Bwindi impenetrable National Park receives heavy rainfall  ranging from 1400mm to 1900mm annually due to its forested nature likely to rain anytime despite the season. The temperatures range from 7°C to 15°C which is the minimum and 20°C to 27°C maximum temperatures , it possess an altitude of 1190 to 2507 meters above sea level in the kigezi highlands and clocking back to the stunning Ruhija sector which holds four gorilla families that is to say Oruzogo , Bitukura , Kyaguriro and Mukiza which have been habituated to the maximum to ensure these species fully get used to human presence. The trekking starts off early in the morning because gorillas are more active in the morning setting off to search for what to eat especially during dry season and also teach their young ones the lifestyle of the bush. Tourists begin their day with a short briefing where they can choose to hire a porter or a chair for those who can not walk but the most given item to support your walking is the stick , you can total up the walking stick with bottled water , lunch box as some trek takes some time , first aid kit incase any sudden occurrence happens , insect repellant to avoid the ants and others insects in the jungle and so many others. Once you find the gorillas in the Ruhija sector make sure to maintain a distance of seven meters from the gorillas and avoid using flash photography. The cost of this trek is $800 per person for foreign non residents , $700 per person for foreign residents while East African citizens are charged shillings 300, 000 per person.
