Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Gorilla Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pick Up & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival in Kigali, or depending on your flight schedule, you will be picked up from your hotel. After a short briefing from your guide, you will go for a city tour that includes the Genocide Memorial Museum and other cultural and historical sites in Kigali.
After the city excursion, drive to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri. In the evening, you may take a nature walk to the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge near the park.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and set off into the forest with your ranger guide.
The trek can last between 2 and 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you find them, you will spend one full hour watching them as they feed and interact. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, return to the park for golden monkey trekking. This activity usually lasts 2–3 hours. Afterward, have lunch and then drive back to Kigali. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
