Detailed 10-Day Gorilla Trekking & Big Cats Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative. They will go over the trip details, permits, and schedule. They will also answer any questions you may have about the safari.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This journey takes about 9 hours with stopovers. The first stop is at the Equator in Kayabwe for the water experiment and photos.

Continue to Mbarara town for lunch, then drive straight to Bwindi forest, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, go to the ranger station for briefing before starting the gorilla trek. The trek length depends on the location of the gorilla family and the speed of the group. Carry drinking water, snacks, and waterproof clothing as it may rain. Protect your camera with waterproof bags, and wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers to guard against insects. The forest is cold at first but warms up during the trek.

You will spend one hour with the gorillas, watching and taking photos. After the trek, return to the starting point, meet your guide, and have a picnic lunch. Then transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking, Transfer to Kigali & Fly to Arusha

After briefing, head into the bamboo forest to search for golden monkeys. These rare monkeys are shy, so the trek is slow and careful. Later, drive back to Kigali. On the way, enjoy views of Rwanda’s hills and towns.

Have lunch in Kigali and, depending on your flight time, shop for souvenirs. Then transfer to the airport for a flight to Arusha, Tanzania. On arrival, meet your driver and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation Area & Transfer to Serengeti

From Arusha, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The crater is a collapsed volcano and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a game drive in the crater to see zebras, buffaloes, elephants, lions, and flamingos.

You may also see the rare black rhino. After the game drive, continue to Serengeti National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 6–7: Full-Day Game Drives in Serengeti

Spend two full days exploring Serengeti. Enjoy game drives with picnic lunches. Serengeti is famous for large prides of lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, gazelles, and more. Together with Maasai Mara, Serengeti is home to the annual wildebeest migration, the largest land mammal movement in the world, with over 1.5 million animals following the rains.

Day 8: Drive to Masai Mara from Serengeti

After breakfast, drive to the Isebania border to enter Kenya. Clear immigration and continue to Maasai Mara. If time allows, visit Rekero near the confluence of two rivers where animals gather to drink water. Have dinner by the river and spend the night at your lodge or camp.

Day 9: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Spend the day exploring Maasai Mara. Look for cheetahs, lions, and leopards. Between June and October, millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles cross into Mara from Serengeti.

Other animals you may see include giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes. Picnic lunch is served by the Mara River, then continue the game drive until evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.

Day 10: Drive to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, enjoy a short game drive on your way to Nairobi. Stop in small towns to buy souvenirs. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon for lunch, then transfer to the airport or your hotel.

End of 10 Days Bwindi, Volcanoes, Serengeti & Maasai Mara Safari.
