Day 2: Game Drive & Boat Cruise
After breakfast, you will go for a morning game drive across the Savannah plains. This is the best time to spot wildlife, including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, warthogs, waterbucks, and other antelopes. The game drive will take you until midday, after which you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The cruise offers close views of hippos, crocodiles, and many water birds. Elephants and buffaloes are also often seen on the shores. After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you will check out and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you from the open Savannah of Queen Elizabeth into the highlands of Kigezi, with winding roads and scenic views.
On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and have lunch. The rest of the afternoon will be free for relaxation or optional activities. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Visit
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park offices for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and guidelines. Visitors are divided into groups of eight, each led by a ranger and assigned a gorilla family.
The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, you will spend one full hour with them, observing and taking photos. Afterward, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa community. The Batwa were once forest dwellers, and during this cultural tour you will learn about their traditions, stories, and music. After the experience, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Return to Kigali & Departure
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive back to Kigali through the Gatuna border. The drive takes about four hours. On arrival, you will be dropped at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
