Flights to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – How to Reach by Air
Travelers can fly from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to either Kisoro or Kihihi airstrips. Flights from Entebbe or Kajjansi can be either scheduled or chartered, with departures available in the morning and afternoon.
The flight to Bwindi takes about one and a half hours. After landing, visitors drive for another one to two hours to reach the national park.

About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to endangered mountain gorillas, with about 400 individuals living in the park’s four sectors: Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Ruhija.
The park is located in southwestern Uganda, along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the edge of the Albertine Rift. It covers about 321 square kilometers of lowland and montane forests, which are natural habitats for over 120 mammal species such as African elephants, bush pigs, and black-fronted duikers. The park also has about 350 bird species, including the black bee-eater, mountain oriole, black-billed turaco, regal sunbird, handsome spurfowl, bushshrike, and brown-capped weaver.
The park is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the body responsible for all national parks in Uganda. It was established in 1991 as a protected area for gorillas and in 1994 was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bwindi has a tropical climate with heavy rainfall ranging between 1500 and 1900 mm per year. Temperatures range from 7°C to 15°C at the lowest and 20°C to 27°C at the highest. The park lies at an elevation of 2000 to 4300 meters on the Kigezi Highlands.
Accessing Bwindi by air is the fastest way to reach the park, and it also gives travelers a chance to enjoy aerial views of the country.
