Detailed 3-Day Uganda Gorillas & Golden Monkey Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Transfer to Bwindi National Park

On arrival at Kigali International Airport, our driver-guide will meet you and give you a short briefing about the safari. You will then begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.

If time allows, you may choose to take a short city tour of Kigali before driving through the Katuna border with lunch in Kabale. On arrival in Bwindi, you will check in to your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to the park headquarters for a briefing. Rangers will explain the rules and guidelines of gorilla trekking before dividing visitors into groups of eight. Each group is assigned a gorilla family and guided into the forest.

The trek may take some time, but once you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them as they feed, rest, and play. After the trek, you will return to the park offices and later to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will check out and drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. On arrival, you will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking & Return to Kigali

After breakfast, you will head to the park offices for a short briefing before beginning the golden monkey trek. These rare primates live mainly in bamboo forests and are easier to find than gorillas. Their leftover bamboo shoots often show where they are feeding.

You will spend one hour with the golden monkeys, watching them move, feed, and play. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will drive back to Kigali, where you will be dropped at the airport or a hotel of your choice.
