Detailed 2-Day Congo Gorilla Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pickup & Transfer to Goma

After your arrival in Kigali or after an early breakfast at your hotel, your driver-guide will meet you and take you for a short city tour.

You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Kimironko Market, Caplaki Crafts Village, and a few other cultural sites before driving to Gisenyi. From here, you will cross the border into Goma, DRC Congo. You will spend the night at your hotel in Goma Town.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Virunga & Transfer to Kigali

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing session before starting your trek. You will then enter the forest to search for your allocated mountain gorilla family.

Gorilla trekking in Virunga can take up to 8 hours depending on how long it takes to locate the gorillas. Once found, you will spend one full hour with them, watching and learning about their behavior while taking photos.

After trekking, you will return to the starting point, meet your guide, and drive back to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or the airport. This marks the end of your 2-Day Virunga gorilla trekking tour.
