Detailed 7-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Zanzibar Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Hotel Transfer
On arrival, you will be picked up from the airport by your driver-guide. He will give you a short briefing about the trip and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Volcanoes National Park & Gorilla Guardians Village
After breakfast, drive for about two hours to Volcanoes National Park. The route passes through Rwanda’s hills and beautiful countryside, with chances for stopovers. Arrive in the afternoon for lunch, then visit the Gorilla Guardians Village. This center showcases Rwanda’s culture and traditions of the Twa, Hutu, and Tutsi. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing. You will be placed in a group of eight trekkers and allocated one gorilla family. Enter the forest with your ranger guide and search for the gorillas. Once you find them, spend one hour observing them as they feed and interact. After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
Day 4: Fly to Zanzibar
After breakfast, drive back to Kigali for your flight to Zanzibar, Tanzania. On arrival, transfer to your beach resort. The afternoon is free for lunch and relaxation at the beach. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Stone Town Tour
After breakfast, take a guided tour of Stone Town. Visit the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum, the Arab Fort, cathedrals, mosques, and the local market. Have lunch in town, then return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight at the beach.
Day 6: Dolphin Trip & Beach Relaxation
After breakfast, visit Kizimkazi fishing village for a dolphin trip. Take a short boat ride to spot bottlenose and humpback dolphins. Some visitors may even swim close to them. In the afternoon, relax at the beach before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to the airport for your flight home or to your next destination.
