Detailed 5-Day Uganda Rwanda Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked up by our guide from either your hotel or Kigali International Airport. From there, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park, which is about 105 kilometers from Kigali, a drive of 2 to 3 hours.

Lunch will be along the way. On arrival, you will check in at your lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers. You will then be guided into the forest to track a habituated gorilla family.

Once you find them, you will spend one full hour observing and taking photos. After the trek, return to the park headquarters, then drive back to your lodge to relax. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will leave Volcanoes and travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The distance is about 73 kilometers, a 2 to 3-hour drive through the Cyanika border.

Lunch will be along the way. On arrival, check in at your lodge and spend the afternoon resting. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early breakfast, you will go to the park offices for a briefing by rangers. Here you will learn about the gorilla family you are assigned to track and the rules of trekking. You will then enter the forest with guides to search for the gorillas.

Once found, you will spend one hour with them before returning to the starting point. Afterward, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and begin the journey back to Kigali through the Katuna border. The distance from Bwindi to Kigali is about 164 kilometers, a 4 to 5-hour drive.

Lunch will be along the way. On arrival, you will be dropped at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 5-day Bwindi and Volcanoes gorilla trekking tour.
