Detailed 10-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Migration Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Hotel Transfer
Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where your driver-guide will meet you. Depending on your arrival time, you may have a short tour of Kigali before heading to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Visit Gorilla Guardians Village
After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park. The two-hour journey may take longer with stopovers along the way. Arrive in the afternoon for lunch and visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about Rwanda’s traditions, enjoy performances, and taste local food. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
After an early breakfast, go to the park headquarters for briefing before trekking. Enter the forest with your ranger to search for the gorillas on the lower slopes of the volcanoes. Once found, spend one hour watching them. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 4: Fly to Arusha and Drive to Ngorongoro Crater
Have breakfast, then drive to Kigali Airport for your flight to Arusha, Tanzania. On arrival, meet your guide and continue to Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Full-Day Game Drive in Ngorongoro
Start early with breakfast, then descend into the crater for a full-day game drive. Animals often seen include lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, giraffes, and more. Have lunch at a picnic site in the crater before continuing the drive. Return to your lodge in the evening.
Day 6: Travel to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park. The trip includes stopovers along the way, and you will arrive in the afternoon for lunch and rest at your lodge.
Day 7: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti
Spend the whole day exploring Serengeti. The park is famous for the Big Five and the wildebeest migration. You will also see gazelles, zebras, giraffes, hippos, antelopes, and many other species. Enjoy picnic lunch before continuing your game drive.
Day 8: Cross to Kenya & Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, cross into Kenya and continue to Masai Mara National Reserve. Experience the cross-border journey and arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 9: Game Drive & Masai Community Visit
Start early with a morning game drive in Masai Mara. Watch predators hunting, nocturnal animals retreating, and grazers feeding. Expect to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, rhinos, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, and more. After lunch, visit a Maasai village to experience their culture, traditional dances, and food. Return to the lodge in the evening.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, drive to Nairobi. You may stop at a hotel of your choice or head straight to the airport for your departure flight.
