Detailed 10-Day Gorilla Trekking & Big Five Game Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative will meet and transfer you to a nearby hotel. Your first night’s stay is on the shores of Lake Victoria, an ideal place to rest after a long flight.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, drive about 8–9 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The route goes through Kampala, Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale. Stop at the Equator for photos and coffee, then continue to Agip Motel or Igongo Country Hotel for lunch.

Later, proceed through Ntungamo to Kabale, with views of the Kigezi hills, or via Kihihi–Butogota for those trekking in Buhoma sector. Other trekking areas include Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Community Visit

Have an early breakfast and head to the ranger station for a briefing. You will join a group of eight visitors to trek one habituated gorilla family, guided by rangers and trackers. A porter can help carry your bag.

The trek may take 2–7 hours, and once found, you will spend one hour watching the gorillas, taking photos, and learning about their behavior. Afterward, return to your lodge to rest. In the evening, visit a nearby Batwa community for a cultural experience.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Enjoy breakfast and drive via Kabale to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Stop at Lake Bunyonyi to see some of its 29 islands or take a canoe ride. After lunch, continue through Katuna border to your lodge near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Trekking, Transfer to Kigali & Fly to Nairobi

After golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park, return for lunch and then drive to Kigali. Along the way, pass tea plantations and small towns. In Kigali, you can shop or take a short city tour before heading to the airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Day 6: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast in Nairobi, meet your safari guide for a 7–8 hour drive to Masai Mara. The reserve is home to the Big Five and many predators. From July to October, you may witness the wildebeest migration as herds cross the Mara River from Serengeti. Overnight in a lodge or camp with comfort and eco-friendly design.

Day 7: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Start early for a full-day game drive. Masai Mara is one of East Africa’s best wildlife areas. During migration season, over a million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move through the plains, followed by lions and hyenas. You will also search for elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards. In the evening, visit a Maasai Manyatta (village) or relax by the campfire at your lodge.

Day 8: Travel to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, passing Lake Victoria. The drive takes about 8 hours. Serengeti is the largest park in Tanzania, covering 14,763 sq km. Its plains, dotted with acacia trees and rocky outcrops, are full of wildlife including cheetahs, leopards, and lions. Enjoy a game drive on arrival.

Day 9: Game Drive in Serengeti & Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Wake up early for a game drive in Serengeti to see predators, the Big Five, and many other species. Later, drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. The crater is home to elephants, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and antelopes. Spend the night at a camp on the crater rim with beautiful views of the floor below.

Day 10: Game Safari in Ngorongoro & Departure

After breakfast, choose between visiting a Maasai village or taking a guided nature walk in Ngorongoro forest. You may see buffaloes, elephants, or smaller animals along the way.

Later, drive to Arusha with a stop at Karatu and Mto-wa-Mbu towns for local markets and souvenirs. Continue to Kilimanjaro Airport for your flight home.
