This 2-day Karisimbi hiking tour takes you to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda to hike this famous mountain.

The tour starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. Since the hike is tough, good preparation is required. Below is the detailed itinerary.

Detailed 2-Day Karisimbi Climbing Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park & Begin the Ascent

You will be picked up very early in the morning, around 5:00 am, from your hotel in Kigali. The drive to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze takes about two hours.

On arrival, you will attend a briefing session at the park headquarters, which starts at 7:00 am. After registration, you will meet other hikers and begin the hike.

The hiking group moves at the pace of the slowest trekker, so everyone stays together. On this first day, you will not reach the summit but will stop at a designated camping ground on the mountain. Dinner and overnight will be at the campsite.

Day 2: Reach the Summit, Descend & Return to Kigali

Wake up early and have breakfast at the camp. From here, you can enjoy views of some of the other Virunga Volcanoes. After breakfast, continue the hike and climb to the summit of Mount Karisimbi.

You will then begin your descent back to the starting point, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Kigali. Depending on your schedule, you will either be dropped off at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
