Buhoma Community Tours is a three-hour journey around the Buhoma region near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It gives visitors a chance to learn about the daily lives of the local people living around the park.

The tour introduces tourists to the culture of the local community through clear explanations from experienced guides, as well as personal observation of their way of life.

The tours usually start in the early morning or evening, guided by well-trained and knowledgeable guides who help visitors understand the traditions and activities of the people.

Close by is a banana plantation where bananas are brewed to make local waragi (banana gin). Tourists are shown the whole process of distillation, and those interested can even taste the waragi.

The tour continues through farmland, where visitors can see waterfalls and interact with local farmers. Here, tourists learn about traditional tools used for farming, watch women weeding with hoes, and see tea leaves being hand-picked. Some fresh tea can even be taken home.

A visit to the traditional healer is another highlight. The healer uses herbs to treat illnesses, sharing knowledge that has been passed down through generations.

Visitors can also stop at local schools along the trail to meet children, see how they study, and learn about their determination to succeed despite many challenges.

The tour often ends with a visit to the Batwa, the ancient inhabitants of Bwindi Forest. Here, tourists experience traditional songs, dances, and learn about the Batwa way of life, while appreciating the close bond they have with nature.
