Detailed 4-Day Uganda Double Gorilla Trekking Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pick Up from Kigali (Optional City Tour) & Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Your driver-guide will pick you up from Kigali at an agreed location. If time allows, you may take a short city tour to visit places such as the Genocide Memorial, art galleries, local markets, and milk bars.

Afterward, you will drive to Uganda through the Katuna border. The journey offers beautiful views of hills, volcanoes, and terraced farmlands. On arrival in Bwindi, you will check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park offices for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Here, your permits will be checked and you will be assigned a gorilla family to visit. With the help of rangers, porters, and escorts, you will begin your trek into the forest.

The trek may take 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Once you find them, you will spend one full hour observing, photographing, and filming. After the trek, you will receive a certificate and later transfer to another sector of Bwindi for your second trek. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Village Tour

After breakfast, you will return to the park headquarters for another briefing. This trek will give you the chance to meet a different gorilla family, which makes the experience even richer. You will again spend one hour with the gorillas before returning to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit a Batwa community. Here, you will learn about their traditions, enjoy storytelling, music, dance, and drama. After the cultural tour, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, you will check out and drive back to Kigali. On the way, you may stop at local craft shops to buy souvenirs. You will then be dropped at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 4-day safari.
