Detailed 3-Day Bwindi Double Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Drive to Bwindi (Rushaga Sector) with Batwa Cultural Visit
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet your driver-guide and head into the city for lunch. You will then cross into Uganda through the Katuna border and continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On arrival, check in at your lodge and relax.
In the evening, you will visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. The Batwa were once forest dwellers in Bwindi, living as hunters and gatherers.
During the visit, you will learn about their traditions and way of life as told by their elders.
You may also support the community by buying handmade souvenirs before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Ruhija Sector
After an early breakfast, you will go to the park offices for a briefing on the rules of gorilla trekking. Visitors are divided into groups of eight, and each group is assigned a gorilla family and ranger guides.
You will then begin your first trek into the dense forest. The trek can be tiring due to steep and rugged terrain, but meeting the gorillas makes the effort worthwhile.
Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one full hour with them, watching their behavior and taking photos. Afterward, return to the starting point and have your packed lunch.
In the afternoon, your driver will transfer you to the Ruhija sector, in the eastern part of Bwindi, where you will spend the night in preparation for your second trek.
Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking & Departure
After breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters in Ruhija for another briefing. You will then begin your second gorilla trek, following the trails with the guidance of rangers.
Just like the first trek, once you find the gorillas, you will spend an hour in their presence.
After the trek, return to the park offices to meet your driver. You will then drive back to Kigali, arriving in the evening for your departure flight or hotel stay.
