This 2-day Bwindi gorilla tour starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda. You will trek mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda, one of the country’s most famous parks.

Detailed 2-Day Uganda Gorilla Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Kigali or on arrival at the airport, you will meet your guide and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda.

Depending on your time of arrival or start, you may choose to explore some attractions in Kigali, such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Caplaki Crafts Village, and Kimironko Market.

After this short tour, you will begin the 4-hour drive to Rushaga, Ruhija, or Nkuringo sector of Bwindi.

If you take the city tour, lunch will be in Kigali. If you travel directly, you will stop at Lake Bunyonyi for lunch and enjoy a short boat ride to some of the 29 islands before continuing to your gorilla trekking sector.

On arrival in Bwindi, you will check in to your lodge, have dinner, and rest as you prepare for gorilla trekking the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing and gorilla family allocation. You will then begin the trek into the forest in search of your assigned gorilla group.

The trek can last up to 6 hours, depending on how long it takes to find the gorillas.

Once you find them, you will spend one full hour watching and learning about these gentle primates. After the trek, you will return to the starting point, receive your gorilla trekking certificate, and then transfer back to Kigali. You will be dropped at your hotel or at the airport for your departure flight.
