Detailed 2-Day Bisoke Climbing Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze
You will transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze. This is the only park where gorilla trekking in Rwanda takes place. Because of this, there are chances of seeing gorillas on the way, but you will not be allowed to spend time with them without a trekking permit. If you happen to spot gorillas, you will continue with your hike.
The drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park takes about two hours. Depending on the time you leave Kigali, lunch will be served at your hotel on arrival if you get there early. Dinner and overnight will also be at your lodge.
Day 2: Hike Mount Bisoke & Departure
After an early breakfast, your guide will drive you to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing. The briefing starts at 7:00 am, so you need to arrive at least 30 minutes earlier. The starting point for the Mount Bisoke hike is about 25 minutes’ drive from the headquarters.
Here, you will join other hikers and begin your trek. Hiking Mount Bisoke is an all-day activity that takes about 6 hours in total to go up and down. At the top, you will see the crater lake that makes the mountain special.
After descending, you will meet your driver and transfer back to Kigali. This marks the end of your 2-day Mount Bisoke hiking tour.
