Bwindi Gorilla Trekking & Zanzibar Beach Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and hotel transfer

Today you arrive at the sole international airport in Uganda, Entebbe international airport. The guide will be ready to receive, welcome and transfer you to the Hotel where you will spend the night in Kampala or Entebbe. At the lodge, just have dinner and overnight in preparation for the next day.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Early morning, have breakfast and travel to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. This is a nine hour journey having several stopovers. The first one is at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe, here you have the water experiment that shows how water swirls in different directions in the opposite hemispheres of the world. Take as many pictures as you want and proceed to Mbarara town for lunch and drive straight to Bwindi, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking & Batwa Community Tour

After breakfast, set off to the park headquarters for briefing from the local ranger guide. After taking you through the guidelines of gorilla trekking, be divided into groups of eight trekkers to visit a single gorilla family per day. In the forest, walk through slippery trails, avoiding thorny trees and having to hold onto tree branches for support. Spend one magical hour with the apes, watching them jump from one tree branch to the other, feed and carry on their daily lives.

In the afternoon after a delicious lunch at the lodge, visit the Batwa community for a cultural retreat with the forest pygmies. These were the first inhabitants of the forest before they were resettled outside the park. On this visit, see how they used to hunt and gather food in the forest, enjoy traditional performances as well as tasting the local cuisines.

Day 4: Travel back to Kampala

Today travel back to Kampala. The nine hour journey presents outstanding views of Uganda’s countryside, the Kigezi hills and other amazing features along the way. Lunch will be enroute. In Kampala you will arrive in the evening to just have dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Fly to Zanzibar

Immediately after breakfast, drive to Entebbe international airport to catch up with your flight to Zanzibar in Tanzania. You will reach in the afternoon to check in at the lodge, have lunch and relaxation at the lodge.

Day 6: Stone Town Tour and Beach relaxation

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and head for a guided walk through the Historical stone Town. The guide leads you through the famed Stone town that still stands to portray history. Walk through the bustling market of Zanzibar, the narrow corner streets via different historical buildings and places. Visit the cathedrals and mosques. Lunch will be in the local restaurants after which you head to the beach for lunch and afternoon relaxation. You can engage in swimming, sun bathing, beach games and other activities of your choice.

Day 7: Departure

Wake to an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and travel to the airport for departure back home or to your next destination.
