Detailed Rwanda Family Travel Package

Day 1: Pick up from the airport and transfer to a hotel in Kigali

Upon your arrival at the airport in Kigali for your 7 Days Rwanda Safari Holiday, you will meet and greet with your safari guide, who will welcome you with a smile and shortly brief you about the 7 days’ tour in Rwanda and immediately transfer to your hotel in Kigali city for accommodation.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, you will carry out a city tour in Kigali where you will visit Genocide Memorial center, local markets and more. The tour offers in-depth knowledge of Kigali’s bitter past and its bright future assuring that you feel a connection with the vibrant city’s heartbeat.

After having this excursion, the tour guide will drive you to eastern part of Rwanda to Akagera National Park. Drive to the headquarters for registration and then proceed on Boat ride on Lake Ihema where you will spot a number of reptiles such as crocodiles, mammals like hippos, and different birds among others.

Day 3: Game Drive & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Proceed on game drive in this African Savannah Park after morning breakfast where you will spot plenty of animals and these include; Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Zebras, Hippos, Rhinos, Crocodiles, and many other bird species.

In the afternoon, exit with more game viewing opportunities en-route and transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Kinigi, in the north western side of the country, arrive at a lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking Experience & Cultural Safari

Your driver guide will transfer you to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters for registration and briefing after your breakfast. The driver guide will also assist and facilitate on identifying gorilla family to visit depending on the group’s interests and capabilities. Trekking Rwanda gorillas can take between 2-6 hours depending on the movements of these beautiful creatures. You will spend 1 hour with the Gorillas as you are taking photos.

The park rangers will endeavor to give you all the necessary information about these magical apes and ensure you are in the best spots to take the most beautiful pictures and experience the breathtaking gorilla habitat properly. You will then drive back to the hotel for lunch and refreshment.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Iby’iwachu cultural village. This cultural village displays a traditional lifestyle of a Rwandan including dress code, food growing, processing and preparation, their traditional wedding ceremonies and interpersonal relationships within the community.

Day 5: Visit Lake Kivu and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Transfer to Nyungwe National Park after a late breakfast. While on your way to Nyungwe, pass via the shimmering Lake Kivu. Located in Gisenyi, western extreme of Rwanda, it is the country’s largest lake and home to various activities including speed boat trips, beach holidays/relaxation, canoeing, community and island tours, etc.

After this excursion, have lunch at one of the luxurious resorts and continue with the drive to Nyungwe National Park and check in the lodge for dinner and overnight at one of the lodges.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

After the morning breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing, this briefing helps you to know the dos and don’ts while trekking Rwanda chimpanzees. While trekking, you might see primates like the Colobus Monkeys, Mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, etc. plus viewing other inhabitants of the forest like birds and butterflies.

Later return to your lodge for lunch and refreshment. In the afternoon, you will drive to Uwinka visitor’s center for the adventurous canopy tour. The two hour walk on top of the forest offers you impressive views of the Nyungwe forest and the wide variety of species that thrive there, including primates and birds. It is the only canopy walk in East Africa.

Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali airport

After breakfast you will check out of the hotel and begin the journey back to Kigali city. You will make a stop in Butare to visit the Ethnographic Museum; the largest Museum in Rwanda with the history and traditions of Rwanda all in one place.

Lunch at one of the best restaurants in Butare city and later drive back to Kigali city, proceed to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight and this will be the end of 7 days Rwanda safari.
