Detailed Rwanda Wildlife Viewing & Gorillas Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park

On arrival at Kigali Airport for your 4 Days Volcanoes Gorillas & Akagera Safari , be welcomed by our safari guide who will give you a short briefing about this 4 days volcanoes and Akagera Safari within Rwanda.

Embark on a 3-4 hour transfer to eastern based Akagera National Park where you will have lunch and capture captivation sceneries along the way.

Depending on your arrival time, in the afternoon go for a sensational boat ride along the beautiful Lake Ihema and look out for the various aquatic animals for example Hippos, giant crocodiles and a profusion of water birds like papyrus Gonolek, the African fish eagle, as well as the Shoebill stork.

Day 2: Game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Have an early breakfast on day 2 of your 4 Days Volcanoes Gorillas & Akagera Safari, head for a game drive to look for the early risers plus predators such as Lions and Hyenas and others such as giraffes, Buffaloes, cape elands, bushbuck, zebra, Elephants, impalas, Oribi and antelopes.

Return for lunch or late breakfast at the lodge and later in the afternoon, transfer northwards to Volcanoes National Park where you will arrive in the evening for dinner, relaxation and night stay.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking and visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo

You will head to the Park headquarters after breakfast, where you will be allocated to a gorilla group. There will be a short briefing session about Mountain gorilla tracking rules and any vital information about these beautiful creatures.

After the actual adventure begins, guided by the park ranger head into the forest to search for some of the remaining mountain gorillas. Have an hour in their presence observing and taking photos posing with them. After that, return to your lodge to rest and have relaxed lunch.

In the evening, head out to the base of Muhabura and Gahinga volcanoes, to visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera for a cultural experience and exploring their unique treasures as well as history.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali and departure

Transfer to the capital city – Kigali after a relaxed breakfast and have a short city tour to visit the Genocide Memorial Museum, craft markets as well the local schools and other projects. Later be dropped off at the airport in Kigali for your departure flight, to mark the end of your 4 days safari.
