Detailed Akagera Wildlife Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kigali airport and transfer to Akagera national park

On this first day of your Rwanda safari holiday, you will be met at Kigali International Airport by your safari guide/driver who will transfer you to Akagera National Park arriving in the early afternoon and later start the long awaited sunset wildlife safari in the plains of Akagera National Park.

Day 2: Game drive in Akagera and boat cruise

You will have an early breakfast in the morning and later set off for a game drive to catch up with the early risers plus large predators including lions and hyenas plus Elephants, giraffes, Buffaloes, bushbucks, zebras, cape elands, impalas, Oribis and antelopes.

Have lunch and later go for a boat trip on the beautiful Lake Ihema to see Hippos, giant crocodiles and a profusion of water birds like the shoebill stork, African fish eagle and papyrus Gonolek.

You will have dinner and overnight at the lodge booked for you.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali and city tour (Optional Rwanda balloon safari experience on this day)

You will have breakfast at leisure and later head to Kigali city. While on the way, you will spot a number of animals such buffalos, elephant, antelopes among others.

Proceed for a city tour where you will visit the biggest museum in east Africa full of history and culture, visit the genocide memorial center where the local guide will give you the political story of Rwanda, president’s palace, visit the local markets, among others.

You will proceed for your lunch and leisure at either Kigali Serena hotel or the historic Hotel Des Mille Collins to learn about its past and role it played during genocide.

 Day 4: Drop off at the airport

In the morning after your breakfast, you will be dropped at Kigali international airport to catch up with your flight back home or continue to the next safari.
