Detailed 5-Day Bwindi Gorillas & Nyiragongo Climbing Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On arrival in Kigali, begin your transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. The drive takes about four and a half hours, including time at the border. Arrive in Bwindi, check into your lodge, have dinner, and rest.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing. You will then enter the forest to search for your allocated gorilla family. Once you find them, spend one hour observing them before returning to the starting point. At the end of the trek, you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi, Rwanda
After breakfast, transfer back to Rwanda and continue to Gisenyi. Spend the day relaxing at your lodge or take an evening walk around Gisenyi town. Dinner and overnight in Gisenyi.
Day 4: Hike Mount Nyiragongo
After an early breakfast, cross into DR Congo and head to Kibati Patrol Post for a briefing. Begin the hike up Mount Nyiragongo, which takes 5–7 hours with several stops for rest. Spend the night at the summit shelters while enjoying views of the volcano’s fiery crater.
Day 5: Descend Mount Nyiragongo & Departure
After breakfast, descend the volcano. Your driver-guide will be waiting at the base to transfer you back to Kigali, marking the end of your 5 Days Bwindi and Nyiragongo Hiking Safari.
